user is opening many client connections (svrconn channels). they have hit our "maxchannel" limit and i would like to limit the # of channels that they can open. are there any options/parameters or exits that will allow me to this?????

Yes, check out MQAUSX from Capitalware (they have a forum on this site). We bought it and it works great. It is an exit that can limit how many instances of a channel start up.

I think the BlockIP exit has some limited capabilities in this area, as well.

Or at least, since it's free and open source, is a good place to start writing one.

BlockIP does not have the ability put a cap on the maximum # of channels, although it does do a bunch of other stuff.
