Hi Guyz,
Thanks for helpin me out in all of my previous issues. As always, i have another small issue now .

1> The project, which i am currently workin in requires some of the activities to invoke a web service. The web service provider, in our case might take some time (The SLA quotes an avg processing time of 3 to 4 days). So, after invoking the web service, i think its not advisable to wait for such a long time for the response.

Could you guyz suggest some possible solution for this.

2> I want to know how UPES can be made use here.
I mean to say, can we use UPES as a web-service gateway? meaning, where the activity implementation would send in a request to this gateway, which in turn forwards the request to the service provider. This, it does by spawning a new thread n not a process. The thread would be waiting for a response back from the service provider.

3> Is it mandatory to have some application/web server to have the UPES running? or is just a JVM sufficient? i am talkin about a simple UPES, acting as a gateway for web services.

Thanks and Regards,
Supreeth

Since you are talking about webservice, I need to ask you what your BPM engine is. Is it workflow or Process Choreographer?

An appserver is definitely not needed to run UPESes. You can run it standalone.

How is the web service exposed and what is the transport protocol.

The BPM here is workflow.

We are trying to utilize the services provided. The transport protocol used is http.
