We have a situation. we have a process model in which we use an expire workitem logic. Exactly at 12 PM these items get expired and the flow moves on to next step which is a UPES.

Now we are seeing some 700 msgs on RTSINPUTQ at around 12 PM and till 12:20 PM the no.of msgs in this q doesnt go down. Then around 12:20 msg count starts getting down and I see msgs put into the UPES output q ( the one UPES is listening to )

One time it so happened that the GUI users got a timeout error during this time. I dont know if these are related and if so how to seperate messages coming from GUI and msgs from WF to the UPESQ.

We are running the max no.of exec servers here.

Any ideas??

This sounds to me like you want to read this techNote.

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=795&context=SW920&uid=swg21188010

You may be able to help the situation, but I don't think it is going to go away. It would be best if you did not have to expire a large number of items during a time when there is heavy use of the system by human users.

I have run into this before, and wished that I could "dedicate" one or more ExecutionServers to processing messages for Humans to avoid these timeouts, but I do not think it is possible.

One possible thing you should also consider is upping the number of Execution servers.

I already upped the exec servers = 2 * No.of cpus. But we still see the problem.

Is there any way we can create a new system under the same system group and use this system purely for automated/scheduling type scenarios??.

CHF:

I recently ran accross this:

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21206415&rs=100

I am not sure I follow this completely, and I have been investigating to find out more.... I have no pressing need, so you might want to dig in to this. It is the last paragraph that I find interesting.

Good luck... let me know how you make out
