Hi all,
can anyone direct me to documentation on using DHCP to add a qmgr to a cluster, so that i'll know the pros and cons, also the understanding on how DHCP is really used in such a situation ?
thanks,

If the machine hosting the queue manager is using DHCP, and for whatever reason DHCP changes what IP address that machine is using... then all channels to that queue manager will be broken. And hard to reestablish.
There is nothing specific about clusters that deals with DHCP, as far as I know.
Unless you mean something other than "Dynamic host control protocol" by DHCP. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Stick to static IP's - why make life difficult? |

vishnuvardhan,
before you ask more questions on clustering, do yourself a favor and read the clustering manual.
There is info on DHCP in the clustering manual. It is possible to make a cluster work when some of the servers have DHCP. You need to define the channels differently. _________________ Peter Potkay

Feel free to post, but always search the manual first. Often, you will get your answer right away, and you will learn more as well. I downloaded the PDF version of the Cluster Manual to my PC and use the Adobe search function. _________________ Peter Potkay
