Folks,

I have been given requirement to access oracle 9i database thru ESQL. I need to select data from DB. I have oracle client installed on my machine and I know the database schema.

Now in the DatabaseNode I need to enter datasource and table name. I have the table name but what should be the format of datasource?

Also is there anything else I need to configure to access the DB?

Regards,
Scht

The value for the DataSource parameter on the Database node can be choosen from those DataSources that are defined in your .odbc.ini file.

  • assign a database id/password for the DataSource via the mqsisetdbparms command
  • ensure tnsnames.ora has been configured properly
  • setup the proper database links for the Oracle platform using the mqsi_setupdatabase command
  • define the required environment variables (i.e. LD_LIBRARY_PATH, ORACLE_HOME, ODBCINI, etc...)
  • establish a symbolic link, if XA coordination is a requirement
  • use the 32-bit Oracle client (\lib32)
  • ensure successful database connectivity by first, using the sqlplus tool, supplied with the Oracle client

Thanks JT for the reply.

Database connectivity is fine. I am able to connect using SQLPlus/Toad. I will perform rest of the points and revert if I face issues.

Just FYI, I am using WMQI 2.1.
