i have just inherited a v5.3, csd08, on solaris 8. it's not a very complex setup, with clusters running on 2 machines in production.
i'd like to chuck the mq working data files, ie everything from /var/mqm, into a SAN for quick failover to the DR environment. the problem i have here is everything has been installed on /var.
is there a way to move the files to the recommended file systems, /var/mqm/, /var/mqm/log and /var/mqm/errors? at the moment, i can only think of a brutal method of shutting down the qmgrs on one server and re-install everything with the new file system. or do u you think that it's not worth implementing SAN with this config? |

There is a document on how to failover MQSeries in a Sun Cluster posted on the IBM web site. I trust you already have reviewed that.
In short you would probably be better moving just the queue manager directories onto your SAN. I think you will be able to relocate the files but there won't be amy easy tools to do this. You will probably have to dig into the MQSeries internals. You would need to edit both the mqseries and queue manager ini files to ensure that correct values are represented. |
