So, the installation help for WBIMB says
Quote: |
Creating a DB2 database on Unix platforms
Before you start
To complete this task, you must have completed the following tasks:
You must complete the following additional database setup procedure before you create the database. You are recommended to do this after you have installed your database, but you can complete this process before database installation if you specify the intended database installation directory correctly during this setup.
You must issue the following command:
mqsi_setupdatabase db2 <database_install_directory>
where <database_install_directory> is the directory in which DB2 is (or will be) installed (for example, /usr/lpp/db2_07_01). |
However, when I did an install on Linux(Intel), there doesn't seem to be a command called "mqsi_setupdatabase". Doing a find for "*setup*" doesn't find anything that resembles "mqsi_setupdatabase".
In addition, the broker seems to be running just fine.
Has this command been obsoleted with FixPack 2 of WBIMB v5? Or is it just not relevant for Linux(Intel) _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The mqsi_setupdatabase command in the Message Brokers v5.0 Information Center identifies UNIX as the only operating system under the heading: Supported Platforms. I suspect this includes Linux as other primary commands (i.e; mqsistart) do not specifically list Linux as a supported platform.
For what it's worth: on the Solaris platform (WMQIMB v5.0.2), the mqsi_setupdatabase executable can be located in /opt/mqsi/bin/. |

I did look in /opt/mqsi/bin. There wasn't an mqsi_setupdatabase command.
There's enough confusion in the documentation between Linux and Unix that I suspect that the Support Platform section does not include Linux, and therefore there isn't an issue.
There are notes in the section on creating brokers on Unix that claim you don't need to set up an ODBC datasource on Linux because Linux only supports DB2. However, the mqsicreatebroker command on Unix still requires an ODBC datasource name for the broker database.
So, documentation is not the most straight forward or clear. Imagine that! _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The mqsisetupdatabase command seems to unnecessary on Linux(Intel). _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
