One of the Production MQManagers I support resides on a dedicated IBM 7026 4x4 PowerPC with one MQManager. This MQManager sevices 22 remote Client Applications spread accross 8 client machines.
These Clients range from clustered and single instance Was4.0.6, Was5.0, Weblogic Version?, 2003 Server using JAVA and W2k using ActiveX/Visual basic.
At even the lowest usage period I have over 700 active channels on this particular MQManager. The vast majority of these channels are SVRCONN.
I only have 3 SDR/RCVR pairs to a z/OS MQManager, 2 SDR/RCVR sets to an AS/400, one SDR/RCVR to a Tandem Server and one SDR/RVCR set to a QMGR on a Solaris Box.
So any way I was wondering,  on average, how many channels do you have running on your Production MQManagers?

Depends. My Hub has a 50. My Gateway has 20. Most Spoke QMs have only 2. The Client Concentrators have 400-500.

The most SDR/RCVR type channels I have seen was on a 2200+ qmgr cluster with a single repostiory, making 4400 channels in all (on Windows!)
The most clients into a single box I have heard of is about 10000. |

4400 channels on a Gates Server...
