How to trim extra spaces in a control connecter?

How you can trim spaces off a value for a control connecter condition?

I think a UPES is returning values with extra spaces.

There is no trim() function, I guess if you know how many spaces you could possibly use SUBSTR function, but best would be to fix the UPES to not return the value with the extra spaces
