I am preparing to upgrade from WMQI 2.1 to WBIMB(with rules and formatter extension) 5.0. When doing a custom install on AIX, the installer queries you for the components you wish to install..
My question is, can you install the Message Broker Extensions (which the documentation tells us is new name for what was previously the WMQI Message Broker) without installing the Broker (which seems to be the new name for what was formerly called the Event Broker)? Or does the "Message Broker Extensions" simply expand on the functionality of the "Broker" and therefore cannot/should not be installed on its own? If I wasn't running an Event Broker before (with WMQI 2.1) do I need to install one now?
Thanks.. _________________ -Mike. |

You *were* running an event broker with 2.1
"Rules And Formatting Extensions" is the current name for NEON.
Don't buy it if you don't *require* it. There is sufficient work to migrate flows from 2.1 to 5.0 that you are almost just as well trying to include the work to migrate away from NEON. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Okay. Thanks for clearing that up Jeff. ... I was never totally clear on that.
As for the NNSY stuff, I'll have to migrate it. We're so reliant on it now, I can't imagine how we'd ever get away from it.
Cheers,
-Mike. _________________ -Mike. |
