So...
I run MQ on my Windows laptop.
I tell my laptop to "stand by" quite a bit. When I do this, I get a nifty little dialog "WebSphere MQ has received a Suspend Request. OK to suspend?" or there abouts...
If I say "No", then it doesn't go into Standby mode. If I say yes, then it does.
This is obviously a Windows event that MQ is receiving, and acting on.
What does this actually do? I mean, it's clear that it suspends the queue manager, and no work will be performed while that is true... But...
Could I abuse this event, for instance, to remove a queue manager from a cluster for purposes of workload balancing?
Can I signal this event using amqmdain? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

You should look into the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) Settings in the System Admin Guide.
In the Websphere MQ Services, select properties and you can select the required options in the ACPI Settings Tab.
I think you should select DoDialog option. _________________ siliconfish |

I knew I should be spending more time reading the manuals...

This enables Windows users with ACPI enabled hardware to stop and restart channels when the system enters and resumes from suspend mode. |
So, basically, it just stops all channels.
So I could still have an application doing work with local queues while the machine was "suspended". _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
