HI,
I am getting the following error

Any idea what I am doing wrong here, there's something about the mqm.dce. Does MQ require dce support? I am using the smit installer and have the following flags turned on and off.

I think you got the wrong installation files.
You should install Non DCE version of MQ and not DCE.
Do NOT install DCE version of MQ (unless that is what you are intending to) |

hi, thanks vennela. Actually i am trying to install the non dce version, so i don't know why it is asking me for the dce stuff. on the media disk it says websphere mq5.3 for aix, hence I figured that, that is what i needed. I also downloaded the tar file but upon the install the same error showed up....

What does lslpp -l | grep mqm show, I believe you already have MQ installed correctly

You are asking smit to install all the software on the media, if the rest of MQ is already installed then this will just select the two mqm.dce.* filesets, these prereq some dce filesets, if the pre-reqs are not met they will not be installed, this is what is intended.

There is only one version of the AIX product, it includes two mqm.dce.* filesets that are only required and appropriate if you are using DCE. If you don't want/need the DCE support then either accept the 'failure' you are seeing or select the filesets you do want individually.
In this case I believe you already have a correctly installed product.
