How many Listeners can a QM on a windows box have? I am setting up an Edge Queue Manager, and want to have one dedicated listener per outside company, to lessen the risk of CompanyA overwhelming a listener shared by CompanyB.
I also asked this of IBM, but would like to hear about real life examples. _________________ Peter Potkay

I'd be surprised if you can have more than 65535... per IP address, that is... _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I would be happy with 15 or 20, if that is possible. _________________ Peter Potkay

Explorer lets me create that many (I've got twenty two now), and they all appear to be started and running.
Under load is a different question.
Also, I don't recall my Intercommunications very well, so I don't know if it would be good to have additional CHINs or MCAs or stuff. But maybe the listener handles that.
EDIT: And it's even on CSD05. Gotta upgrade... _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Yes, you can run them, and as far as I know there is no imposed max.
There is a windows system wide issue to do with max processes lauched from within the dcom environment, but I am talking the equivalent of about 12+ qmgrs depending on the number of processes per qmr - so if you start launching loads of processes, you may have to tweak the desktop heap windows settings. The symptoms of hitting it are processes being launched but cancelled by the os before ever starting. |

I have seen heavily loaded 8 listeners but for different QMGRs though |
