Hi ,

My client has following environments

Mainframe (HOST) running MQ 2.1.1, TCP 150C and VSE/ESA 2.5 (VSE)

AIX5.2L running MQ5.3 CSD07 in HACMP environment . The environment is active-passive mode.

Win2K client , which run trigger monitor and grab messages from queue of AIX

HOST is sending 1000 messages to AIX using BATCHSZ=50 (default). While the message are processing (say 500) , we force fully failover the MQ on AIX from active node to passive one.

Once passive node becomes active , the channel could not start on VSE , we found that there are extra 50 messages on VSE side and sequence number mismatch. We have to "reset channel" to make the system work. Eventually when the channel was reset , there were 50 extra messages.

It looks to me that syscpoint problem on VSE side.

Any help would be appreciated as customer find this as serious problem.

Regards
Kamal

Did the channel go "In-Doubt". Did you have to "resolve" the channel. If so, did you you follow the instructions in the InterCommunication Guide.

Cheers,

Hi There

I am not really good on mainframe side. But from WMQ point of view
If a channel dropped mid transmission and MQ is unable to resolve the status of a current unit of work automatically, the channel will not restart. To restart it the administrator must manually commit or rollback the current unit of work (synchpoint). In these cases it is possible messages will be lost, or occur multiple times respectively.

I would suggest using the support-pac to montior the health of channels

Hi,

Thanks everyone for the reply. The problem was related to "in-doubt" channel. Unfortunately on VSE side there is no command to COMMIT/ROLLBACK. We have to manually delete the messages that are already commited .
