Hi,
I was wondering if MQ Workflow sets the priority during installation/configuration at anytime of the UNIX 'NICE' value. Currently on my solaris box I have fmcamain, fmcemain set at 4 and fmcautil set at 0(the default).
Is Worflow internally setting the NICE priority to 4?
Thanks _________________ Praveen K. Chhangani,

Alright, here's the scoop on this and it's kind of what I was thinking as well.....looks like some shells give the background process a NICE of 4 by default. What was happening was that fmcamain and fmcemains were given a NICE value of 4 and fmcautil a value of 0. So really, it's unintentional and workflow does nothing internally to set the NICE priorities.
Now the higher the NICE value, the lower the priority and the lower the NICE value, the higher the priority. So really fmcamain and fmcemains were being given a lower priority than system commands and fmcautil. (not good !)
Anyway, if you are using scripts to bring workflow up and down, add the following as a fix and this should take care of this problem....for those concerned.
- This apparently will assign it a NICE of 0.
This might be useful for those trying to squeeze that last bit from their servers , especially if the server(s) have a lot of other stuff installed on em. _________________ Praveen K. Chhangani,
