After having a few problems with one of our QMgr's, I tried stopping and then restarting it.
However, when issuing the strmqm command, I get the error message "Log not available" returned and also an FDC dump.
Does anyone know what the problem could be (without sending the FDC to IBM)..? I would rather not recreate the QMgr is at all possible.
Thanks. |

In the time I had this problem, it was because the Log files <ibm_data_dir>\log\<QUEUE_MANAGER_NAME>
where not available (they had been deleted). Please check them in your machine.
The MQSeries do not re-create the log files at startup. I don't know if there is a tool that can do it, in my case the easier solution was to delete and recreate the QM. |

Search the Forum. There are a number of posts that detail how to "recover" from "deleted" logs. But also some warnings that this might not work for you. YMMV.

Check that the information in the mqs.ini file (on Unix or in registry on windows) matches the physical location of your files.
Otherwise, MQSeries may not have access to the files (check permissions).
On Solaris, you may try 'truss -f strmqm' and check the trace to see what files it fails to open and why. _________________ Alain Buret

Thanks for your replies.
It seems that the log files have been deleted for no apparant reason. Well, not that anyone is admitting to.
I am currently trying to source these from backup and hope that this will solve the problem. |
