In samp/bin couldn't find amqsputc or amqsgetc.

There are binaries amqsputc_nd & amqsgetc_nd.

What does the suffix '_nd' signify ? Otherwise are they the usual client put & get utilities ?

Thanks in advance

I've installed just the MQSeries 5.3 client on another machine and I created a channel SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN on the original (server) machine. I have started up that channel and I have a listener running on port 1414 of the server machine.

On the client machine there are utilities amqasputc and amqsgetc, whihc are soft links to the _nd code.

Why is the return code 2058 ? On previous versions I've used, 2058 is a server-side connection error. I would have expected 2059 on a client machine.

---You shouldn't identify and hence associate a reason code with the version of MQ you were running. If you got an error, try and figure out why you got and how can you fix it.

In this case, my bet would be that you did *NOT* define MQSERVER variable, if that is how you are communicating. You need to define this variable for a client app to know where to look for the queue manager you are trying to connect to. Of course there are other ways of achieving this.

Cheers

The "_nd" signifies non-DCE, there should be symbolic links from amqsputc/getc to either the _nd or, if you elected to install the DCE support,
to the "_d" versions.

I have complied up a Java client app and that works.

Previous reply was welcome. If no-one else has used amqsputc, amqsgetc with MQ5.3 ... then please don't provide a patronising answer as you'll surely encounter the same probs I did.
