Hi,
when stopping a qmgr with the endmqm command, are we sure that any kind of command used will take a checkpoint in the logs?
this question connected with the setting of a backup procedure
thanks for help

KAKOZ,
Here's my best shot to answer your question. As far as confirming that a checkpoint has been taken, I don't know of any message that is displayed saying "Checkpoint written".
I think you may have to take IBM's word from the "Backup & Recovery" book:
MQSeries takes checkpoints at the end of a successful restart, at normal
termination and during normal operation when a predefined number of log
records has been written.
I guess to be sure, you could make a script to force a checkpoint. For this to work you have to have linear logging <not circular>.
1.] rcdmqimg [options]
2.] endmqm QMGR |

Couple of questions in response to your question.
-What specific commands are we talking about.
-Why do we care. If you are talking about MQ doing the checkpoint, then you dont have to worry about it, since MQ does whatever it needs to do get MQ back up to the state in which it was before a failure occurs. Of course we have to keep out NPM off the context. :).
Cheers
