Hi everyone,
I've just configured my first queue sharing group. I've done it step by step, by the book. My QSG consinsts of two queue managers.
The configuration is:
z/OS 1.4, MQ 5.3, DB2 7.1
Two queue managers QS2A and QS2B form QSG QS2X. They both connect to DS2XGRP1 data sharing group using a group attach name of DS2X. All the required steps from the System Setup manual have been performed.
The first queue manager starts normally, its log shows that everything is ok. But the second one raises the following error:
CSQ5023E +QS2B CSQ5CONN SQL error, table
CSQ.ADMIN_B_QMGR locked by another DB2
and does so every 10 seconds (even after the first queue manager eventually shuts down).
I've asked our DB2 guru for help. He hasn't found any messages in the DB2 log nor any active MQSeries threads. All he's been able to find is a "H-X,PP,I" lock indicators for some indexes and tablespaces used by the QSG. He told me that locking indexes was a very old concept and nowadays nobody should use it.
I've done some 'googling' on this problem. All I've got was an MQ 5.3 PTF preventing the queue manager from abending in such a situation (we do have this PTF appplied).
Has enyone of you had similiar problem? How can I solve it?

Problem update:
When both managers are started from one system image, QSG works perfectly. The problem described in the previous post occurs only when QMs are started from different system images _________________ Marcin Grabinski <>< |

I should have raised my problem on a DB2 user group
The solution was simple: on one DB2 image there was a bufferpool of size.. 0. DB2 responded with SQL -904, which MQSeries interpreted as "locked table"
Problem solved, queue sharing works perfectly
