Another possibly ludicrous question from me...

I'm setting up a test system for WBIMB v5.0. The CDs IBM provided us for this version did not include DB2. I assumed I'd just use the DB2 disc from the v2.1 pack. However, the one I've got is DB2 v7.1 and according to the website WBIMB v5.0 is only certified with DB2 v7.2 and above.

It's not clear to me whether we can get to v7.2 via applying fix packs to a v7.1 install or whether I need to ask IBM for a CD.

I want to be confident I've got the right versions - the test system will be running the config mgr on Win 2003, the developers will be on XP and the brokers will stay as WMQI v2.1 on Solaris.

Thanks for your help,

J.

Hey Gooch,

you should recieve a 8.1 version of DB2 with all other CD's of 5.0 Message Broker.

it says something like 8.1 enterprise edition for message broker on CD. If not ask IBM to provide that.

You need following for a proper funcitionality of MB:

DB2 8.1 with fixpack 2 or later
MQ 5.3 with CSD 04
IBM agent controller version 5.0.2(available on supplement CD)
MDAC 2.7 or later
JDK 1.3.1 (just coz if u call IBM will say go back to 1.3.1, we only tested with that guy... )

Dont even try with out any of the above.. simply waste of time..

Best of Luck
Waugh

Thanks, Waugh.

We didn't get the DB2 CDs with WBIMB v5.0. I've spoken to our reseller and one of their chaps is bringing a v8.1 CD to our office by hand!

...how's that for service?

I'll check the versions of the other components you listed before installing WBIMB.

f.y.i.

If you plan to install WBIMB CSD03, you will need to install DB2 8.1 FixPack 4.

Regards,
Nick.
