Hi, We have some solaris server with MQ 5.3 on whose we are currently doing a "rcdmqimg -m qmname -t all '*'" then stop the qm to make a complete backup of /var/mqm every evening.

We would like now not to stop anymore the qm.

If a file changes during the backup process it could be that Tivoli Storage Manager (which we are using) does not save the file.

So my question do we have a consistent set of logs which are not touched anymore by MQ after a rcdmqimg?

I'm afraid you have to stop it to take the full backup. This redbook may come in handy:
