Hi,

I have setup 2 machines for testing purposes (win2k Adv. server on each box and MQ 5.3). Both machines are in the same WORKGROUP (no domains involved).

Question 1
Does MQ Server requires to be in a domain?

I cannot remotely manage a queue manager or join one of the machines to the cluster on the other machine. I alway get:

"Access not authorized. You are not authorized to perform this operation (AMQ4036)."

Here are some of the things I have tried and tested but no luck:
-added the MUSR_MQADMIN to the Administrators group on both boxes
-Run the IBM MQ service under the Administrator account on both machines.

Thanks for your help,

Sas

Neither of the things you tried are appropriate.

The issue you are facing is that MACHINEA/User1 is not defined to MACHINEB.

Are you talking about the account I use to log in to manage MQ? Both machines already have the same account with the same password.

Can you please be more specific?

Thanks,

Sas

MachineA/User1 is different than MachineB/User1, even if they have the same username ("User1") and the same password.

This is basic Windows security.

If you want to authorize MachineA/User1 on MachineB, then you need to authorize MachineA/User1, and not MachineB/User1.
