Hi,
- we have to migrate a number of UNIX Sun platforms running at the moment on 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2 to mqseries 5.3
- some advices about the best operations and procedures to use to do this work?
- partricularly what is best to do?
1- install 5.3 over the last mqseries version already existing?
or
2- uninstall the existing version then after installing the 5.3 version?
- what basic security have we to follow before doing this job?
+ save mqseries hierarchy?
- for all qmgrs?
- for each qmgr?
+ save all the mqseries files installed on the platform?
- log files for each qmgrs?
- mqseries rights about the objects?
- all objects definitions?

From the manual:
Quote:
End all queue manager activity on the target machine.
Uninstall the old MQSeries product as described in Chapter 9, Uninstalling WebSphere MQ for Solaris. Do not delete the /var/mqm directory tree if you want to retain existing MQSeries information, for example your queue manager data.
Install WebSphere MQ for Solaris, V5.3 as described in Installation procedure
You will have to uninstall the older version before you install the new version
You may have to save the authorizations data and QMGR objects (support pacs are available for the same)
