Can someone please tell me He how to check the number of applications putting and getting messages into/from queue from the cmd prompt.

From runmqsc

dis ql(NameQ) opprocs ipprocs

The opprocs are the process putting , tpprocs are the process getting msgs

If you are running MQ 5.3 you can also get the names of the applications and their PIDs by doing a dis qstatus
