Is it a problem to have multiple queue managers setup in a cluster with the same name or does the queue manager names need to be unique?

I *believe* that all cluster objects are based on the queue manager ID, NOT the queue manager name, so you should be fine - although it might lead to some confusion.
For instance, if you type DIS QCLUSTER(foo) in runmqsc, and the queue foo happens to exist on both queue managers, you see two entries for foo, both displaying the same queue manager name.
But now that I think about it, it seems like you'll have problems with MQOPEN because if there are multiple instances of a queue and you want to open a specific one, you do it by specifying the queue manager's name. _________________ Brandon Duncan

It is always a bad idea to have more than one queue manager with the same name on the same MQSeries network.
Queue manager names are part of the automatically generated message ID's. Having duplicate queue manager names could result in duplicate message ID's. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
