Hi all,
I wonder what happens if two Trace nodes write to the same file at the same time?
Is there a synchronization mechanism (-> and consequently deadlock possibility)
or data coming from both nodes can be mixed up in a file.
Can anyone explain this to me (and probably most of newbies) ?

I've made a little test where there were three flows each one reading from different queue and all writing to same file on disk. First flow was writing only 1 line of text , second one was writing 100 lines, third was writing 1000 lines.
It seems that access to a file is generally synchronized becouse all lines (100 or 1000) were written together.
For about 110000 lines in file there were 7 lines invalid (like without first leter or with extra leter inside)
Test was running on:
- Integrator version 2.1 with U487642(CSD05),
- MQ series v 5.2, U481511
- HP-UX B.11.11 (11i)
Any comments ?

Well, WMQI probably does some buffering, the OS does some buffering, which probably works fine most of the time, but of course with the occasional hiccup (as you have seen). |
