Hi there,
Can anyone offer any advice as to the potential cause of recurring message sequence errors across a channel pair.
I have a server/requester channel pair at the local and remote qmgr. Both channels have been stopped, and their message sequence numbers reset. Everything restarts fine, but after a period, the sequence numbers become mismatched again.
Any suggestions on symptoms, or perhaps something in the channel configs?
Thanks in advance.

One possible reason could be unreliable network connections. In that case theres nothing much you can do except trying to make the network more roboust. |

On some older versions of MQ on the less common platforms e.g TPF there can be problems if the taret queue mananger can have different underlying IP addresses.
In one instance we were communicating from AIX to a TPF system whos DNS could resolve to one of 4 IP addresses. The channel sequence number was stored against each IP, so if the connection ever dropped or the channel became inactive on restart it was odds on that we'd connect to a different IP address and hence get a sequence number mismatch and in-doubt situation.
If this is not relevant (probably not!) & network is the suspect then you could look at droping the disconnect interval of the channel, this may well reduce the exposure to the network glitches, however it will lead to increased traffic as the channel will need to reconnect more often.
Good luck
