Hi,
I have a very basic question about MQSI.
Does the MRM contain the information about Message sets along with the rest of the data?? If so what is the rest of the data? Why do I have to take export of Message sets if I am taking the back up of the total MRM incase of migration/Damaged environment for Configmgr or Broker..
Also where is the message flow related information stored??Is it part of the Configuration database.. Then why again we need to take the Export of message flows??
Can somebody explain.. _________________ Keka |

MRM is a parser name!
Your message sets are stored into MRM database, which is located on Windows server. This database contains information about Message Sets, Messages, compound Types, Elements, Qualifiers, Defaults, etc.
Message Flows information is stored into Configuration database.
Using message set/message flow export commands you can extract information from the database about that particular component(Message Flow/Set) into XML format, so that it can be migrated to a different environment. You can also version control these XML files.
When you want to recover your Broker domain then only it would make sense to restore complete MRM Broker and Configuration manager database backup into different environment.
This was the case with WMQI 2.1 or lower. In WBI MB 5.0 message flow and message sets information is stored on your local file system. So you don't have to backup your databases for the source code anymore.
I hope this helps. _________________ Kiran
