I'll just throw in my two cents worth..

We use "site scope" to monitor our Workflow environment. It's really reliable, useful, & inexpensive to boot. Site Scope is a utility that will automatically attempt to execute a http url and log the results of the request. We have set up the monitor to issue a http request to log in to Workflow via the web client, check out a work item, cancel the checkout, and logoff. If all of those things happen with out errors then everything is up and running. It's nice because not only am I monitoring the Workflow runtime environment, but the also monitors the availability of our web client.

In fact I have found this tool to be so good, that we are setting up all our monitoring up to use site scope. We just created a servlet that will be able to monitor channels, high queue depth, and the state of any given Websphere appserver. The Site Scope system sends me an outage report every Monday morning.

For the price of this tool, really do believe it's worth the money.

hi
my experience is as follow:
first look at the workflow log..
then mq log
and
then db2 log..

normal OS process monitoring (ps etc.) is good to start with.. it is not a bad idea to develop our own tools to meet our requirement as the wf monitoring products are not matured.. or yet to see the light of the day..
i know few companies are working on wf monitoring tools in line with mq monitoring tools... i'd llike to try site scope to start with..

regards
shaker
