MQ 7.0 will be out of support in a little over a year.
MQ 7.0 does not support installs in custom locations, although the symlink method works fine (we do it).
Why not install MQ 7.5 which allows you to install MQ anywhere you want, and will be a software version supported for years to come?

Actually I proposed WMQ V7.1 but my client is already holding a licenced version of WMQ 7.0 they insisted me to use this version(7.0)....... 
I've decided to use the symlink method to proceed with WMQ 7.0............

If they have a Passport Advantage account, then it is no charge to upgrade and they just download the current version from Passport Advantage account.
They have a support agreement, don't they? |

Right, if you are licensed, you are licensed for a supported version of the product, not a specific version that eventually goes out of support.
I doubt you have licenses that force you to stay on a particular version.

I came to know that my client is holding a software package license (WBIFN,WMQ,WMB and DB2)................
As I was a contract employee and they are not ready to give me a explanation........................ |

Sounds like they bought an industry pack.
That should still allow then to use an upgraded version of any of their components, but I'm not their IBM Account Manager

created a mount /usr/mqm under a DataVG.
About to follow the installation in normal process using SMIT. |

Very good, I've never seen anybody do any different.
Best part about MQ 7.1 and up is that on AIX, you can tell it to install at /opt/ibm/mqm/V.R (where V is the version number and R is the release number) to be more consistent with other UNIX platforms. It would be nice to install all IBM products at /opt/ibm but I'm sure that would never be allowed as it makes sense and is too easy to follow/figure out.
For some reason, I remember smit having a menu item for this but I don't see it in the Info Center.
Edit: Ah, I see it on the main menu as "Relocatable Software Installation and Maintenance". |
