Just to add to whats being already told. You have to bear in mind that just until a few months back the sample tests were free and available on IBM's website. And when i took my certs a few years ago, i did notice some questions on my Cert exam being the exact same ones that were on the IBM prep test.
So, that could explain the origin of such questions. Again this is just a guess.
Cheers

ugh.. well several people have asked me to delete this entire post because it apparently discusses an actual question from the 297 exam. But I think it makes more sense to leave it here, and make it clear that we (the MQ community) do not appreciate people doing this. If I just delete it, then eventually someone is going to come along and do it again. Maybe seeing this post will cause them to think twice. |
True, but now the question itself is out here... I suggest to edit the post and ********* the question!!!

It should be a no-brainer to realize why those of us who spent countless hours and sweat acquiring our MQ skills are firmly against providing answers to the exam questions. Aside from the fact that test takers are legally bound to keep the questions confidential, it erodes the overall value of the certification if we have people running around who are certified but don't really understand the concepts... |
exactly! this is one of the main reasons I never even bothered to take the tests (no one asked me if I was certified either... I must be very confincing )
As long as a I see MQ / WebSphere MQ certified whatever taglines from people who ask very basic questions here, I am not going to bother either... _________________ Michael

Perhaps I didn't understand your response Jeff, but when I took the exam, I was put in a dingy room with an old 486 running windows 3.1 or something and took the test via some proprietary testing software (it was through prometric) without access to a browser or anything. The only way I could have walked out of there with a test question would be if I memorized it, or if I wrote it down on my scratch paper and managed to sneak that past the proctor. _________________ Brandon Duncan

I meant from the sample test.
And Prometric facilities seem to be the same everywhere... _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

haha... actually my certification "expired" when I stopped doing MQ-work full time. The certification may stick with you for life, but the knowledge certainly doesn't if you're not using it everyday
But I'm trying my hand at the whole startup thing, so we'll see what happens. BTW, if anyone works for a public company you might want to look at our product now that everyone has to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act...

I can confirm that the MQSeries questions were updated 6 months ago.
I knew there were wrong answers on the test and it pi*** me off greatly
After two years of pestering IBM they finally allocated someone to investigate and changed the questions that were wrong ...
What a shambles ...
either way you need to bne careful because i knew a chap who lost his certification (even though he passed) because it was later discouvered he had taken questions out of the exam...
To be honest it is more rewarding to know you have passed without cheating and following the rules .... I worked very hard to pass the mqsi architecture certification and felt very good after wards _________________ PeteHanbury
