Hi guys,
What objects does MQ monitoring tools listen on in order to provide the user with relevend information on which objects are failling / [un-healthy]
my management have asked me to investigate on whether a monitoring tool
by the name of SiteScopehttp://www.mercury.com/us/products/application-management/foundation/monitors/sitescope/
can be used to monitor MQ, on things like abnormal channel stopping, queue depths, etc ...
or will it be cheaper and quicker to purchace an off-the-shelf product like Qpasa and 'em?
kind regards - ryzor |

Sistescope has built in MQ monitoring.
QPASA is primarily an MQ monitor, and as such, their MQ monitoring is much more sphisticated. That's not to say that Sitescope would not work for you.
There are a whole bunch of others out there as well. _________________ Peter Potkay

Generally, I would expect that any tool that claimed to monitor MQ would have the capacity to monitor all of the events described in the Event Monitoring manual.
The criteria after that are product usability, price/benefit, flexibility, and a few other things.
It's a much better idea to start trying to identify the business requirements you are trying to satisfy with your monitoring FIRST. Then try and evaluate the tools you are looking at in relationship to those requirements.
If your boss just wants to know if channels are up and running during working hours, he's not likely to want to pay $100K for a monitoring tool that would tell him when an individual transaction had taken more than 1 microsecond to complete on a 24/7 basis. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
