Configuration:
windows XP
MQ5.3 csd8
[working from cmd promt]

created a cluster with 3 Qmangares

QA,QB,QC are in cluster with QA and QB hold full repository.

QC is linked with QB

now i added a 4th Qmanager QD to the same cluster. QD also linked to QB
[QD added :means created clus-sdr and clus-rcvr chl]

when i look at the channel status of all the Q managers, the status of the QD sdr chl shows retrying.??

But when i put the msg from QD into the cluster Q, than the status is changed to running and working fine.

Is this the way it behaves? am i doing it correct.??

Even i tried by adding one more Qmgrs. its the same.

Thanks

Stop and restart the queue managers with retrying channels.

DO NOT start manually any channels.

just curious Jeff,

why should you not start these channels? and restart the entire QM's instead?

You shouldn't start them because you don't need to.

You should restart the QMs because it's the only way to get the channels back to their normal state - which you hosed up by trying to manually start them.

The fine authors of the Cluster manual will very much appreciate the time and effort you spend to understand their work.

Jeff,

No ware am starting the chls manually.

Any ways the new sdr chl is triggererd[running] when i put a first new msg into that.

But as per your suggestion, if i stop and start the qmanagers, than will it affect the total configuration for a while??
I think this is not required, as the chl is running whenever the first msg comes??

How about this in other environments like AIX e.t.c...?

Thanks

We are apparently talking about completely different things.

I read your question as asking about Cluster Sender Channels that were in a retrying state. You didn't specify WHICH channels, so I answered based on the most likely situation, which is this:
Someone tries to manually start SYSTEM.DEF.CLUSSDR. This then goes into a retrying state, until the queue manager is restarted.

I have no idea what you are asking about.

[ dis chs(*) ]

I might be confused you.

Thanks

As of 5.3, when you STOP a channel, you have the option of putting it into an INACTIVE state, rather then only a STOPPED state. This is nice because it allows you to get channels out of running or retrying, and put them into a normal state (i.e. INACTIVE).

Bouncing the QM should not be needed.
