I also face a problem with MQ5.3 installation on XP Pro. I created an "mqm" user and added to Admin group, did the installation but it says unable to find group 'mqm' (AMQ4203 error)[ which i was unable to create earlier].

I tried to log off and login with 'mqm' user and my local comp as 'domain' and did the installation, still i get the same error.

The default crtmqm fails after the installation. So something wrong with the 'mqm' group creation. This is a work PC and am trying to install MQ on XP Pro. Any tips??

The Quick Beginnings Guide for Windows has all the information you need to properly install MQ on Windows.

The latest fixpack is fp09/CSD09. Install the latest fixpack and see if you still have a problem.
You can download the fixpack from
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/integration/mqfamily/support/summary/

Hope this helps.

CSD is the same as fixpack. Veteran's of WMQ call it CSD since the fix was given this naming originally. However, the rest of IBM products, or most of them, name the fixes as fixpack. Hence, the fixes are now also called fixpack. But really, they are the same.

And if you already have CSD01 with with WMQ 5.3, or you have WMQ 5.3.0.1 , that fits the requirement for the install. Should not be a problem if you follow the quick beginning. I suspect that you have a domain controller, and the id you use is not the domain id.

Read through the guide.

It is 2.4.21-20. Is that what you were requesting?

No I think Philip was wondering which Linux distribution you are using - eg. RedHat, SuSE, etc.

This problem is almost certainly the theading problem however - which should be solved using the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL environment variable as Anirud has said.

Use:

export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19

and try and install again. You should find the package won't hang this time.
