Hi, I have a few questions about the file MQWFCHL.TAB file and I have tried searching this forum but didn't get a satisfactory answer. Here they are:
1. When does this file get updated? Does it get updated only when we run through the workflow configuration or does it get updated eveytime I add a new channel to the FMCQM queue manager?
2. Is there any editor out there which can let me look in the file? I saw somw posts on this board about using runmqsc on a different box and such but is there another easier way?
3. I am migrating a Workflow Server from AIX to HP-UX but the workflow client is staying on the same machine (Client is on a seperate Solaris box). I have run the worklow configuration on the Server and now I am confused as to which MQWFCHL.TAB file to use. Should I get the one from the client or keep the new one I have on the Server system? I have already modified the channels and MQClusterCommunicationAddress on the client side.
Thanks for your help.

That is a channel table. It is an MQ thing rather than a workflow thing. Look at the MQ Clients manual to know more about it. You can assume a channel table is something that has the QMGR name, the hostname it resides on, port number of the listener and the client channel information. It can have more than onw QMGR information. For example if you have three QMGRs on three different machines, all of this info can be in one channel table.
You can manually create it using runmqsc (on any qmanager). Search for the following key words
creating channel table
This is one of the results.
http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1732&highlight=creating+createing+channel+table
Now if you are migrating workflow from AIX to HP-UX, you might have created a workflow server on the HP box right?
Now for the client on the solaris box (or wherever the client is ), you need to copy the channel table from the HP-UX box.
Hope it clears some of your questions. |

Vennela, thanks for that link. It helped a lot in understanding the concept of channel table file. I guess I should have searched the term "client channel table" instead of searching for "MQWFCHL.TAB".
One quick question: I will now have to copy the MQWFCHL.TAB file from the Workflow Server (configured on HP-UX) to the client (existing one on a Solaris box) so that the client knows how to communicate to the server. Right? I mean the channel table file in this case contains the channels and connection name etc for the Server, so the client could connect. Right?
Thanks,
