Hi
HBINT -> If no messages arrive on the XMITQ within the HBINT time the channel closes down.
1. Will the channel restart again automatically when the messages arrive again on the XMITQ..?
HBINT -> Heartbeat flows UNBLOCK the receiving MCA, which is waiting for messages to arrive or for the disconnect interval to expire. When the receiving MCA is unblocked it can disconnect the channel without waiting for the disconnect interval to expire.
1. What does UNBLOCKING mean..?
Thnx in advance |

This is false.

If a channel is INACTIVE and properly set up to trigger, yes.

A RCVR MCA never knows when the next batch of info is going to come from the other side, so its sits there wait, blocking any other attempts to start up a channel by that name from the other side. It will only accept more info from the previously established connection. If you use HBs, it then knows when the next batch of info will come from the other side. If that HB does not come as expected, the RCVR channel can go INACTIVE, as it assumes the other side is gone. An INACTIVE RCVR channel can then accept a new connection attempt from the other side, since it is no longer "blocked" on the old connection.
ADOPTNEWMCA allows a blocking channel to give up on the old connection and accept, or adopt, the new attempt. ilike to use both HBs and AdoptNewMCAs to gether.
See here for more info on HBs:

And the Search button here will also give you tons of info. _________________ Peter Potkay

Hmmm. Based on the thread title, I'm assuming you meant:
DISCINT -> If no messages arrive on the XMITQ within the DISCINT time the channel closes down.
