I have installed the trial version of MQ (5.3) on "Fedora Core release 2 (Tettnang)" running Kernel 2.6.5-1.358.

I exported LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1

When I run the crtmqm command the process just hangs. Here is the command line output that I see.

[mqm@acclaimlinux errors]$ crtmqm TEST
There are 89 days left in the trial period for this copy of WebSphere MQ.

I check the error logs and the only entry is the warning message about 89 days left in the trial period.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the help.

what is the CSD level? CSD06 is the minimum requirement. It's better to have CSD07.

You can download CSD07 from the link below

I am not sure if "Fedora Core release 2 (Tettnang)" running Kernel 2.6.5-1.358 is supported.

I installed CSD07 and I am able to create a queue manager now.

I am now trying to connect to the queue manager from an "MQSeries Explorer" running on a windows machine. I have experience with connection to AIX machines running MQ.

Here are the steps that I am taking.

(1) strmqm TEST

(2) strmqcsv TEST

(3) runmqlsr -m TEST -t TCP -p 1414 &

When I try to connect to the queue manager from "MQSeries Explorer" is say that the queue manager is not available. I am able to telnet from a remote machine to port 1414 on the Linux box so I know it is listening to the port.

Do I have to startup anything else on the Linux machine?

Thanks for the help.

Yes you need the admin channel (from memory)
Code:

def chl(system.admin.svrconn) chltype(svrconn) trptype(tcp)

If your windows user name is not the same as a userid in the mqm group on your UNIX machine you need as well to setup the permissions (use setmqaut).

Enjoy
