Hi all,
If by chance we have removed the Queue manager logs and when we want to start queue manager again it gives an error message
Log not available.
Is there any way of creating logs without having to delete the queue manager and its associated objects? This is for MQseries installed in HP-UX.
Please give a solution to this. |

U should not delete logs..If u delete them..U must recreate the directory structure again...as...
goto logs/active.. and create S0000001.log, S0000002.log, S0000003.log.
If it works ...fine or recreate the queue manager again..
I think it helped u..If iam wrong in any way...Please tell me... _________________ All Problems will have solutions, just You want to try... |

Try the intelligent thing.
Change qms.ini and remove all reference to the queue manager
Move all specific directories qmgrs/<qm> log/<qm> to a backup dir.
Create a new QMGR (same name) with all the objects in the old one.
Move the logs to the backup log directory. Move the log/ctrl file to the bakup log directory. Stop the queue manager
Delete the new files and replace with the old ones (backup dirs). If on linear logging you may have to recreate a full image as soon as the queue manager is up.
If on circular logging good luck.
ABSOLUTELY NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WORKS. IF it does let us know.
Thanks

The easiest solution to your problem, without losing the objects already defined within said queue manager is as follows,
1. Create queue manager by the same name on another server, ensuring that the OS/MQ levels are the same.
2. FTP the following files from the newly created queue manager and move them to the queue manager that gave the log not available.
/var/mqm/qmgrs/QMGRNAME/errors/AMQERR01-3.LOG
/var/mqm/log/QMGRNAME/active/S0000001-3.LOG
/var/mqm/log/QMGRNAME/amqhlctl.lfh
This will allow you to restart the queue manager without impacting any channel sequence numbers and without losing any of the already defined objects.
This is something that I have done several times and I have never had any problems arise as a result.
Let me know if this works out for you.
