Is there a way to stop the alertmonitor (amqmtbrn.exe) without
using the right mouse button and select HIDE ??
I´m looking for a command line option in order to do a full
unattended install followed bij a CSD install.
Something like;
amqmtrbn.exe -hide
This is something I hoped for, but..... I presume there are no
parameters for this exe in the command line ?? |

I Think i found the solution already.
It´s possible to set some parameters in the response.ini
file that will do the trick.
But this appears to be not working either.
There is a bug in the MSI package for Windows, so the
options STARTSERVICE=no and STARTTASKBAR=no do
not work.
IBM wil fix it the next release.
Eeeh so this wil be MQ 5.3.x or 5.4 !

It's found in Start->Programs->Startup folder.
Just remove it from there. _________________ Regards.

Thnx leongor,
I knew that.
The point is, I'm doing a unattended install of MQ 5.3.
Right after this, I do an unattended install of CSD05.
But, because the options STARTSERVICE=no and STARTTASKBAR=no
in the response file do not work, the CSD install is not able to
continue, coz there are locks on a lot of files.
I know how to bypass all locks and install CSD05, but i want to
automate it for the customer, coz they do not know which tasks/services
to kill before you can install CSD05.
Thnx anyway. |

Have you tried net stop "IBM MQSeries".
I think it might work for you.

Thnx Charlie.
This does ofcourse half the job.
This stops the service, but not the alert monitor.
I´m forced to aks the guy that installs it, to hide the icon (which is the same as kill -9 amqmtbrn.exe )
Thnx for the input ! |

BTW, there is a freeware tool called PrcView.
It comes with functionality alike kill -9 on Unix.
"pv -f -k amqmtbrn.exe" will kill the process. _________________ Regards.

Hi,
I use the 'kill' program that Microsoft include in the NT Resource Kit (it is now freely download from MS). It works on WinNT and Win2000 like a charm. Do 'kill -f ###' rather than 'kill -9 ###'
One extra special bonus with MS's kill is that services that won't end in the Task Manager when you click the 'End Process' button, kill will kill them.

Thnx RogerLacroix,
Kill.exe is indeed part of the resource kit.
I´m trying to implement this now, though i still want it
as much as possible out of the box.
I have no clue about license agreements and using just kill.exe
from the resource kit.
But then again, i want an UNattended install that will not be attended coz the service started and I´m not able to supress this.
Thnx all !! |

I know its a late update, but hey...!
STARTSERVICE and STARTTASKBAR dont work, as you have found
net stop "IBM MQSeries" should stop the service and the taskbar/alert monitor.
You could try setting the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\MQSeries\CurrentVersion\Configuration\AlertMonitor
TaskBar a DWORD value of 1
Do install, net stop "IBM MQSeries", set registry key, install fixpack, net start - You can do all that silently |
