Hi Guys,
I have 3 questions on Capacity planning.

1. I have 3 activities in the process, out of which two are inside the block.
Activities inside the block will be executed n times until user condition is
satisfied.
While doing the WF Capacity planning, do I need to take number of activities as 3 and block as 1?
Since those activities are executed n times, logically I can say they different activities. If I just consider those as 3 activities during while capacity estimation, I guess, I will end up in wrong estimation. Can anybody suggest better way of handling it?

2. Adding the global container to each activity will add some burden on it.
we give 1BWU for each activity. Will that be correct, if we have global container too?

3. Switching on Audit Trail will have an impact on process/WF Server. How to take this in to account while capacity planning?

Any inputs are appreciated.

Thanks,

-Mahesh

What tool are you using to do the capacity planning?

If you are using the spreadsheet from WP01 then you would need to count the number of activities actually executed.

I don't think the spreadsheet takes into account Global Container... this is probably a question you should post on the IBM Newsgroup.

Audit trail cost is around 5% for audit to DB, and 25% for audit to MQ, just adjust when you are done.

Thanks John,
Yes, I am using support pack WP01. Is there any better utility to do that?

It is hard to estimate, what the value of 'n' will be. But, I will try to get the approximate for my calculation.

For the Second question, I will put that in IBM Newgroup.

Thanks again,

-Mahesh

Mahesh:

I know of no other tool to do this, so this is the best we have. Your point about the GDC though points out that the tool may need to be updated.

As to deciding on "n" I would go with a worst case scenarion.

i.e if you could loop 10 times count the total activities as 21 and the number of blocks as 10.

GOOD LUCK
