Hi
I have followed the recommendations here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFKSJ_7.5.0/com.ibm.mq.ins.doc/q008560_.htm
for installing WMQ on Solaris 10.
May I ask if any of those kernel settings affects network performance? I ask because my recv channels sometimes can take minutes to get established with remote QMGR. Sometimes it can be quite fast to get established. So was wondering if any of these settings can affect this. I am not a networking/Solaris administrator.
What recommended settings can you propose for a production system, besides the ones recommended in the above doc

There are no errors, except tcp connection time out if it takes too long to establish. For my current case, my receiver channels take 2 days to come up (assuming the network guys did not do anything). Sometime it takes minutes.
For normal operation of channel connection, i believe it shouldn't take this long.
Is there any industry experiences on why channels has delays in establishing connections? Is there some channel settings/attributes that I can fine tune further?

Can I just be clear what you are saying here. Are you saying that it takes two days from the time the sender channel is started to when the receiver channel goes into Running status?!
"Fine" tuning doesn't seem to be the word to use here. You have a serious network issue, if this is the case.

thanks for response. yes, from the time sender is started. 2 days later the receiver and sender established connection. I also encounter slowness when putting messages (from client) to remote queue. Takes 20-30s to put a message. Yes I am also guessing some network issues. The clients and QMGR are running on virtual machines though..And the sending side (RemoteQMGR) is running on actual physical server
client --[slowness to put msg]--> QMGR <---[slowness to establish recv channel connection]---> RemoteQMGR |

While the sender is trying to make the connection, what does DISPLAY CHSTATUS show the STATUS and most importantly the SUBSTATE to be?

Get them to give you the full error messages show in their queue manager error log while you are at it.

BINDING is the STATUS, please look again what is in the SUBSTATE field. It is not BINDING.

You should check the kernel level TCP settings, because default TCP timeout is painfully long (2 * 60 secs). Search for ndd and tcp_time_wait_interval |
