Hi - we are using FileInput node in a flow of ours.
It monitors a directory for a file name (or pattern) and then reads it.

Is it possible to read the file "on demand", this is, not when it comes up in that directory, but when a message is received in a flow ?

So, I would like my sequence to be
a) file is sent to broker's filesystem using FTP
b) a message is sent to a MQ queue where a MB flow waits
c) flow reads file (after decoding the message proper format)

The file is a quite large table to go into a shared variable, so it can not be done (maybe) at the moment the file comes to the directory.

Thanks. Sebastian.

Would a File Read node not meet your requirement (MQInput->Compute->FileRead->...) ? If not, why not?

FileInput did not meet my requirements, but FileRead shall do it ...

I was "obsessed" on using FileInput, that's all

Thanks a lot.

Pre_7004 one might do it using a filein-mqoutput-mqinput-mqget construction.
