Sorry guys, I'd like to ask you an advice. I start to learn Websphere MQ recently. Help me pleaseeee
There are two queue managers on two different computers. These two managers exchange messages between each other. I need to adjust a monitoring of these messages (by activity recording or by display route application). But I can change parameters only on mine queue manager. And on the other manager I can't change nothing. I need to receive the information about full route of each message as on one side and on the other. Can I receive this information without setting up any parameters on other queue manager?
Will be happy to receive any kind of help! |

Why? What are you monitoring? What do you hope to detect?

No you don't. Not of each message. The overhead will kill both queue managers. I again ask what you're trying to achieve.

You can trace the route of a specific class of message by following the instructions here.
If that's really what you want. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

If you only have two qmgrs, then the route a message takes is from SDR to RCVR. Is that what you want to know?
Or are you interested in the route the IP packets take? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Thanks for reply, Vitor!

I want to receive information about the time when the messages witn specific type of data (not about all messages, I put it wrong) were sent and received, the name of application that sent/received message (and the name of user who started the application), which queues and channels take part in the transmission of messages - in general, I think - the same information that provided by dspmqrte for trace-route messages.

Yes, but I want to trace the route of real messages not the trace-route messages. Or I misunderstood the topic? |

This now sounds like an auditing requirement, rather than a performance tuning requirement. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

If you need to do auditing, suggest to the auditors that they need to buy a tool for you to do it _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

You're asking about Activity Recording.
You need to firmly keep in mind that the minute your messages leave queue managers under your organizational control, you have to assume that you will be unable to retrieve any information about any further activity.
This includes all forms of reporting, and all forms of monitoring.
There's absolutely no reason that any corporation would provide their partner or customers with that level of detail about their internal workings.
And even less reason that it would make any sense to you at all.
If you are having difficulties ensuring that an SLA is met, and difficulties demonstrating that the external party is at fault, then you should indeed buy a monitoring/auditing tool and use that to assemble and correlate a picture of the activity on your side of the line. |

Thanx a lot for reply, mqjeff. I think this is exactly what I wanted to know.
Can I ask one more question?
I am getting an activity reports in this format: "EPH............ .....$......E......0......runmqchl......Sending Message Channel Agent........... 20120824.........08363481......G....MD .....................MQXMIT ......... ...(....e......... AMQ QM1 .s/O....% ...(...c......AMQ QM1............SYSTEM.ADMIN.ACTIVITY.QUEUE....." and so on. How can I convert this data to readable format? |
