I'm in need of a methods to capture the status of all of the Production remote queue managers in out enterprise. I know locally I can use 'dspmq' but I need a way to connect and execute something to obtain the status via a remote connection. We do not want to purchase a full monitor just to capture the qmgr status. I can also use runmqsc 'qmstatus' but this can't be run remotely...Anybode that has faced this same dilema, and found or created a solution, any help would be greatly appreciated...we have @ 150 Prod qmgrs and they are v6.0.2.1 and v7.0.1.3 currently. Yes it can, if you have the topology to support it

Granted, but the queue manager "status" doesn't tell you all that much about the health of a queue manager. It won't tell you about channels in retry, messages being dead lettered, queues filling and any of the 101 other bad things that can happen to a queue manager (many of which are symptoms of a non-WMQ problem). If all you're sure of is that the queue manager is running (because the status says it is) you could get a contact admin shock one day.
If you don't want to use rummqsc your best bet is to produce an app that issues PCF commands, either for just the queue manager status or for all the other things you really should be checking. Once you start extending it out like that, you rapidly find you've written your own monitor and need to consider if the TCO of this solution is actually cheaper than buying one. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

IBM support pac MO71 can do this, and display the results in a neat network view. |
