Hi
I need to migrate v6 QM to v7 in different machine.
Here are the steps i am planning to do.
1 Install V7 with latest fixpack available in the new machine.
2. Create a new qmanager with the same name and properties as in V6.
3. Copy the V6 QM definitions using saveQmanager utility.
4. executing the script developed using save qmanager(modyfying Ipaddress in channels) in newly created V7 QM. which will create all the objects same as tha v6 qm.
1 Please let me know whether i am missing out any thing in this process? and do i also need to migrate the existing v6 clients to V7 for the existing application to work with new v7 QM?
2 Also please suggest any alternate approach to achieve the migration |

Keep in mind that if you are working in a cluster your approach won't work very well or won't work at all.
The new qmgr will still have a different QMID etc...
Read the cluster manual on how to migrate a cluster qmgr.

If specific OAM authorities have been set on MQ objects (setmqaut), then you will need to apply those, too.
saveqmgr has a switch ( -z ) that will create a playable script and will apply the setmqaut commands. |

saveqmgr has a switch (--saveSecurity | -z [file]) that will create a playable script, containing the setmqaut commands. This script can then be run by the user to apply the authorities again...
not quite the same as "saveqmgr <independent clause> will apply the setmqaut commands", nor "savemqgr has a switch that <independent clause> and will apply the setmqaut command".
eats, shoots, leaves. |
