Dear Experts,
How can we know, from how long (time period) a message flow is running under an execution group.
Is there any command or any way, which tells about this?
P/F: AIX, MB 6.1
Any response is appreciated. |

It is not clear what you are looking for.
Is it the deployment time, or the elapsed time from message flow accounting & statistics? |

The elapsed time from when message flow is running till date/minute. |

You can find out at what time the message flow was deployed... but if you are looking for the time at which the message flow was started, i don't think we have any facility with the WMB to get that .... |

But I was looking for the elapsed time, as I mentioned in this post. |
AFAIK there's no WMB way of determining this.
You could get close by using system facilities (and possibly the broker's log) to determine when the EG started. If it's wasn't this early in the morning & I'd had more coffee I'd experiment to see if broker logs start/stop commands for individual flows.
And of course every flow has been running no longer than the EG has been running. And don't try and get more granularity by putting flows one to an EG - your box will run out of resources.
Here's an important point - why exactly do you care how long it's been running? What use is this information to you? Deploy time is valuable as it ties back to code version, but what does it matter how long a given instance of a flow has been going? What possible use is this? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

It's still not clear what information you are looking to determine.
Is it the amount of time since an EG startup that the flow has spent performing real work? This is from accounting&statistics.
Is it the amount of time since the EG started up at all? This is in the system log, the EG logs when it starts.
Is it the amount of time that has elapsed since the flow was deployed? This has been discussed.
Is it the amount of time since the flow was deployed that the EG was actually running, regardless of whether or not the flow was processing work? You will have to calculate this number based on the number of times the EG was started and stopped, and the amount of time between those.
Is it some other mysterious number that you haven't clearly expressed? |

A higher level question would be: what will you do with this information once you have it? How will it help you to know this?
Are you looking for a way to determine the version of message flow that is deployed? _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

As a number of people have commented, it's ambiguous at best what "time" the OP is trying to collect or why.
Though I agree, if you mean "the time a flow has been running a particular input" then the broker monitoring works nicely. Use it myself to prove bottlenecks are elsewhere.... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
