I think the subject says it all: it would be useful to be able to generate messages in AMQERR01.LOG from my API exit. _________________ -- mqDB -- |

While I believe it's possible, I'd leave WMQs internal files and file system untouched by your exit. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

To expand on bruce's response - There doesn't appear to be any API method of asking MQ to add information to the log files.
There doesn't even appear to be any set of AMQ*** numbers set aside for "user messages", in a manner akin to the set of BIP*** numbers set aside by Broker for user exceptions.
So, yes, you certainly can write code to add data to these files, but not through any mechanism that is supplied by MQ or supported. |

MQ exits generally implement their own error logging mechanisms, to write their own log files, syslog, sysprint, windows events, etc. _________________ Glenn |

It's shame there's no such mechanism. Can I suggest...

Yes, and we do too, but we have montoring already in place for the MQ error files and it just strikes me as nice if significant problems (in our case an unauthorized message) could be logged in the standard way. _________________ -- mqDB -- |

I agree, it sounds like a useful thing to have. But my opinion doesn't matter...
There's an MQ requirements form... |
