We are considering using this Support Pac
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/ts/mqseries/txppacs/ia09.html
to replace a database to hold our Request/Reply Corrrelation info.
Of course people are raising the concerns of relying on a Support Pac in production since Support Pacs are, well, unsupported. I do see that it has been out for a couple of years and Kolban put out a fix when something wrong was discovered. I feel this nodes funtionality should be in the base WMQI product.
Does anyone know if this type of functionality will be in the upcoming new release of WMQI?
If not, will IA09 be tested/ certified for use with the next version?
How can I alleviate management's fears that one day this support pac will bomb in production and IBM will say "Sorry, we don't support that!"? _________________ Peter Potkay

Peter,
Most of these supportPacs are provided AS-IS and the license agreement doesn't provide for defect correction. However, most of them come with the source code. As per the licensing information for this supportPac you may:

Modify the SupportPac and merge it into another program.

One can study the source code and take the ownership of this plug-in node. I think the management can look at it as any other user program with source code, which will be maintained by your team. We are planning on using MQGet plug-in node in our production environment. I even used this plug-in node in my previous project and customized it as per our requirement.
I'd be very surprized if IBM doesn't provide migration procedure for existing plug-in node in next version. _________________ Kiran
