I understand "old style" Pub/Sub is supported in MQ7 via PSMODE setting and that "old style" has been deprecated in MQ7. How imperative is it for MQ using organizations to convert applications to the new MQ7 API-based Pub/Sub? Will future MQ releases drop support for MQ6.0 style Pub/Sub?

Deprecated means different things to different people.

All significant MQ V6 queue-based pub/sub function has been preserved in MQ V7. Your old apps should continue to work unless they rely on one/some of the small things that has changed. With regard to future releases, IBM announces its intentions on such things from time to time.
