Windows 2000, MQSeries 5.2 CSD2

We have some applications running an MQ client connecting to a queue manager via a client connection channel. The heartbeat interval on the channel is the default 300 seconds. The channel does not always drop connections when it should. I've gotten on the developers about doing proper close and disconnects, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. We unplugged a client machine from the network, waited much longer than 300 seconds, and the connection still did not clear. Have to restart the listener to clear connections. Any help would be appreciated.

glad I found this post....

I am doing some Testing on our MQ programs and I noticed the same exact thing. Our application is set up to go into a "detached mode" when the workstation's connection fails or get disconnected. We have a program called ChannelMonitor which monitors the channels every 30 seconds and reports the status. If the sender channel(USER.to.X14)or UP CHANNEL is not reporting an accurate status, Channel monitor never puts the application in detached mode and begins queueing up their transactions....BIG problem. I actually disconnected the dongle from the laptop and the sender channel remained in a running status for over 20 minutes....eeesh, this looks like a bug. By the way, we are running 5.3 on XP and 2K. It worked great on ver 2.1 on NT..

if you find any info, please reply, I will do the same. Thanks

Try putting in qm.ini file :

Quote:

TCP:
KeepAlive=Yes

But keep in mind that this option depends on your system TCP definitions.
( on NT it's ~ 2 hours ).
